White to cream-coloured, spherical to pear-shaped, slightly flattened fruit body, set with small spines or grains, which soon fall off and leave a bare surface without netting.
Traces ripen internally, olive brown.
Grows on grassland and roadside verges. Very general. (July - October)
Edible only young and still white inside.
